I stepped outside this morning and my first thought was something like, "The weather is incredibly awful.. good job San Diego". But I realized.. it's October. I can finally listen to Christmas music without people thinking I'm too terribly strange.
With a hot cup of tea (trying to stick with one coffe per day.. so sad), I sat down and started playing one of my favorite soundtracks, Elf. I must sound like silly Californian, but when I am freezing in this 60 degree drizzle, "Baby It's Cold Outside" just makes me happy.
Last night, Yoyo, Daphne and I went to see The Social Network. I thought it was incredibly well done. The use of flashbacks, clever filming and superb casting allows the viewer to really understand the complicated scenario and appreciate the movie's tagline "You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies". It's funny, some of the most successful people in the world seem to be pretty douchey. This film makes no exception in its portrayal of Zuckerberg (CEO and founder of FB). I also loved how, in a way, the movie centered around his blog. Since 2003, the technology has changed quite a bit but the fundamentals of blogging are the same (as Zuckerberg's ex-girlfriend says), "as if every thought in your head is so important that it deserves to be on the internet". That just goes back to one of my favorite things to write about, that blogging is for narcissists.
Taylor Swift's junior album is dropping this week and up until Tuesday I was very disappointed with her single releases.. They just sounded too much like her old, high-school themed stuff. However, Tuesday's single "Back to December" is impressive. When I'm not listening to "Pennies from Heaven" by the incredible Louis Prima (seriously love this song), I'm listening to Taylor's heartfelt apology.
"How's life, tell me how's your family? I haven't seen them in a while, Your guard is up and I know why, Cause the last time you saw me, Is still burned in the back of your mind, You gave me roses and I left them there to die"
